ADELINE®
In the fast paced modern world, streamlining existing systems and getting the most for what you spend is of the utmost importance for those concerned with the bottom line and getting the greatest return on investment. By leveraging against a market leader in the AM/FM/GIS realm, USGSM has partnered with ESRI® to utilize the technology available in their ArcPad™ 6.x and ArcGIS® 8.3 to provide a modern, cost effective staking solution.
Utilizing existing ESRI software and its robust features, USG has designed components to accomplish the tasks most familiar to those that design and stake electric distribution line. The benefit of this is that you are not required to purchase another machine or device to accomplish the tasks. If your system can run ESRI software it can run ADELINE. ADELINE allows you the flexibility to choose a mobile device if you want or install it in the office, a laptop, Tablet PC or whatever the future holds. By adding only the tools you want to your ADELINE, you eliminate the cost of excessive or unnecessary tools that are often prepackaged with other staking sheet programs.
With the ArcGIS plug in, your workflow process changes to an extract and post back method of your mapping system. Typically a work or job order is extracted and then edited with the "mobile" device and posted back into your map. Yes, that’s right, no translation or conversion is necessary for your map to be updated. USG has, however, changed the native interoperability to allow for new construction projects to be held until built before updating the mapping system. We have also set up administrative type forms that allow for entry of the miscellaneous information that is commonly not entered during the staking portion of the design. Items like equipment manufacturer and manufacture date are entered to prevent any holes in your mapping database.
By adding the ADELINE Work Order Management Console, each logical work area has the opportunity to enter in information in a customizable form based on the tasks and data they are responsible for.
The ADELINE works with a purchased version of ArcPad 6.0.1 which comes standard with features like:
· Industry-standard vector and raster image display
· Capability of retrieving data from the Internet via wireless technology
· Map navigation (pan and zoom)
· Measure distance
· Edit your data
· Drawing functionality combined with the ADELINE tools make you ready for mobile in-the-field line design
Drawing and line design equipment placement tools, menus and GPS collection of structures.

Drawing Management - Management of completed and incomplete jobs that are synchronized to your mobile device.
Units Management - Export of Units to Summary Report or text file format.
Print Management - Utilize the default staking sheet included with ADELINE Desktop.
System Requirements
Any non-CE Microsoft system that will run ActiveSync software.
This tool set is required to take advantage of the disconnected editing feature of ArcGIS 8.3. This allows the user to manage map projects that are clipped out and posted back to the ArcGIS software. This plug-in requires the ownership of ESRI’s ArcGIS 8.3 software.
This component allows the end user to design a printed output format (staking sheet), that meets any special requirements they may have.
Allows the user to specify non-RUS units that may be a part of their inventory. The user can also specify a parts list for each Unit. In addition to the Unit Report Summary, a part summary may also be included.
Tracking and work assignments of work orders.
This plug-in allows for existing ESRI ArcGIS maps to be evaluated while mobile then provides an inventory of data collected when reconnected to the ADELINE Desktop.
Using USG’s or your own ESRI ArcIMS® software you can take advantage of wireless downloads from your office to your mobile device.
